Daniel Negreanu: Poker Professional

  Born on July 26, 1974 in Toronto, Ontario, Daniel Negreanu is a professional poker player who goes by the nickname Kid Poker. His parents originally moved to Canada from Romania in 1967. Daniel dropped out of high school when he was only one credit short of graduation and began playing the local charity casinos as a poker player. He started dating Evelyn Ng who eventually became a well know poker player herself. At twenty-one, Daniel left for Las Vegas to start a career as a professional poker player. However, his first trip didn't go well and after he lost his bankroll he had to return to Toronto to build it back up again.


          However in 1997 he won two World Poker Finals as Foxwoods which helped build up his bankroll and earned him the title of the best all-around player of the tournament. Then in 1998 he won the World Series of Poker in the two thousand limit Hold'em and he became the youngest player to win until the record was broken again in 2004.


          Then in the next couple of years he became one of the most successful poker players. He won two World Poker Tour tournaments, an additional two World Series of Poker titles and played in eleven final games. In 2004 he was named the World Series of Poker player of the year.


          He married Lori Lin Weber on August 19, 2005. He is most known for wearing headphones which he claims relaxes him during games so he can win. He is also a vegetarian and typically wears hockey jerseys during tournament games
