Pro David Williams Does Bodog.com Proud with Fourth-Place Finish at Bay 101
Tourney.
Poker luminaries and Hollywood stars rolled into San Jose, Calif., last week
to compete in the Bay 101 World Poker Tour Shooting Star Tournament. One
competitor in particular made the online gamblíng giant Bodog.com extremely
proud. Team Bodog poker pro David Williams earned a seat at the tournament's
final table and notched a superb fourth-place finish, landing him a US
$280,000 prize package.
"We were very happy with David's play throughout the tournament," says
Calvin Ayre, Founder and CEO of Bodog.com. "David is an exceptional poker
player and a great ambassador for the game. We will undoubtedly be seeing
him at many more final tables."
The Shooting Star, which is one of the 17 tournaments on the World Poker
Tour circuit, brought poker pros, amateurs and celebrities together for five
days of heavy competition. Among the many celebrity hopefuls competing for a
share of the US $ 4.7-million pot were Jennifer Tilley, James Woods and
Shannon Elizabeth.
As if competing against the likes of Doyle Brunson and Gus Hansen wasn't
enough, Williams was also named one of the tournament's "shooting stars" - a
title that means players fortunate enough to eliminate him would earn US
$5,000 cash, paid right at the table.
Despite being the target for many of the 517 other hopefuls vying for a seat
at the final table, Williams walked away in the money and finished at his
first final table since the Borgota Open in 2004, where he placed second.
"I am pleased with how I fared," says David Williams, who is currently on
set in San Jose, Costa Rica, filming the Calvin Ayre Wild Card Poker
television series that will begin airing April 15. "I had some strong
opponents, but still managed to make the final table. It was a great
experience, and I look forward to the next tournament."
Williams and fellow Team Bodog poker pro Josh Arieh host their own tables on
Bodog.com Poker, and take part in the many Bodog.com events that happen
throughout the year.
With aggressive tournament schedules, World Series of Poker stages
tournaments and an array of bonus programs, Bodog.com Poker continues to
lead the industry with its multitude of products. Bodog.com Poker offers US
$2.3 million in guarantees a month - including a weekly US $100,000
tournament - as well as opportunities for players to qualify for the World
Poker Tournament and World Series of Poker. This year, Bodog.com will be
qualifying 700 players to the World Series of Poker.
Bodog will have a number of other exciting poker
announcements coming soon.
